Makers' Market FAQ's
All vendors must be a current USM student, staff or faculty member, or campus partner (Campus partners include Aramark, Barnes and Noble, ServiceMaster, etc.)
At this time, the Makers' Market is limited to current USM students and staff. The market is designed specifically as a campus initiative to support USM student and staff creators by providing a free, low-barrier opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills and engage with the campus community. To keep the experience fair and accessible for our campus makers, we do not open applications to external businesses or individuals.
Yes! We completely understand that students have classes and busy schedules. If you need to arrive a little later or step away during the market to attend class, that鈥檚 totally fine. Just let us know ahead of time so we can make sure your table stays reserved for you. Please keep in mind that you鈥檙e responsible for your items, so if you plan to leave your table for an extended period, we recommend packing up your goods or taking anything valuable with you.
No, we aren鈥檛 able to allow food or beverages at the market. Due to our contract with Aramark, all edible items must go through them, so outside food and drink can鈥檛 be sold or provided at this event.
There is no fee to participate! The Student Union sponsors the Makers Market, and as part of that support, the standard $200 solicitation fee is completely waived for all student and staff vendors.
Each vendor receives a 6-foot table, two chairs, and day-of support from Student Union staff. We also promote the market across campus through EagleVision, flyers, and university communication channels. We also handle all setup and breakdown of the event space so you can focus on your setting up your display and connecting with customers.
